What to do about players who join and dont play?
I have observed a player named Varithio has joined games at least twice and made the other players wait and just let his action time out thus ending or ruining the game for the other players. There might have been other players like this and it is a common problem when playing online but is there a thought to how to prevent this? -
First we plan to improve the interface when creating / joining games better. The game says "3 days per + 2 hours per move", some players from snellman might not notice and think it's 3 days per move.
We plan to improve the interface when creating games, regarding timezones, and when joining too.
We also plan on adding an indicator if a player is online or not. Might keep people online if they see that the other players are online.
After that, we plan on adding an elo system.
After all of that, if the problem is still there, we'll have to look into other measures... Like preventing a player that dropped too many games from joining other games, etc.

Ehi,
VARITHIO is a friend of mine, and since you named him, I'd like to vouch for him, because he unfortunately can't speak English well and asked me to do so. I don't want to start a flame where I am just the messenger, of course :) , but when one makes names, I think replies are in order.
This message sounds really curious to me, because VARITHIO complains about people dropping all the time - listening to his vocals where he swears at people abandoning games is tons of fun :joy: (unfortunately these gems are Italian-only, that's a shame).
Talking about facts, everyone can check his record of games, he has dozens of (well) completed games here on Gaiaform and in general he is a very active player. You can also find a single game where he dropped after choosing factions - the one where you were involved. That is something which unfortunately can happen, we all have lives which can prevent us from playing as much as we wanted. Oh, and another one, where the players participating were all friends in real life (they're part of our common group) and agreed to drop the game to open another one, to add one more player who had been left out. That's it.
Again, I don't want to start a debate around a person who can't technically vouch on his own, and I agree that the issue exists in general (I already reported it), but I think that this time you just called out the wrong one. I know it's frustrating to have one game where one or more players drop, it happened to me SEVERAL times, but I never called names because I couldn't know why this happened (who am I fooling? They obviously were terrified by my skills    ).
See you around, have fun!

Maybe I was too quick to jump on him cuz he was the only one Id seen and Id noticed hed done it twice - Apologies if I was too quick to judge.

I had the problem of coming from Snellman and startig a couple of games I was quite into and really wanted to finishs and didn´t make it because of not having seen the "per move" / "per turn" timer. I started new games with enough time that I can make it now. Sorry to all affected by that but with 3 children and more then a full time job I only really can check and move in my evenings.

No problem, apologies accepted, let's play ;)

The online indicators and a karma system were added.
Elo is coming in the future.
Let's hope this helps :)
