    • Implementation: automated accept/deny power charge

      Hello,

I don't know how much work this would take, but in the BGA online implementation of Terra Mystica I've seen this working and it reduces manual actions for players between turns: one can simply set "automatically accept power charge as long as it costs no more than X points", or "automatically deny all". Reducing manual actions could also benefit the dropping out ratio, idk.
Of course, it could automatically benefit the most Taklons' brainstone charges (easy, I suppose), and Itar players could want to ignore this altogether, but nonetheless I still think this could help.
As always, thanks for consideration and all the work you all are putting into this.

    • RE: Game durations

I think these timings are fine. The problem is people joining and then not playing.

Thus, I'd ask for the opportunity to block other players from joining one's games.
Harsh and unfriendly as it may seem, a player recently joined two of my games and dropped out of both of them by inactivity, thus ruining the games for all those involved. This is frustrating, and I'd like to have to opportunity to say "I see you can't play these days, no problem pal, but I'd rather not having you at my table".

    • Paia Groject, a fanmade podcast about Gaia Project

Hey, this just to inform you all that me and a friend (Molfo on BGS) have started a podcast about GP - where we cite BGS quite a lot, tbh.

You can find the first episode here: https://paiagroject.podbean.com/

Have fun, and tell us what you think!

    • RE: Bugs reports for the new expansion

Hi, a found a (very minor) issue: the new boosters are listed in the bottom box as "booster-ship1" (or "2" and "3"), but in the grey buttons for choosing they are listed as "booster11" (or "12" and "13"), thus making them slightly more difficult to choose.

They can be picked anyway by directly tapping on them (the issue was found on mobile, Android and using Ecosia as a browser), but listing them in the same way could be a slight improvement.

Thanks for the work put into the implementation.

    • RE: Implementation: statistics

+1 for keeping stats (an ELO system would be fantastic, but it looks like several steps further)... and for reporting the dropping problem.

You know, boasting with my friends when I win isn't the same when one or more players dropped out  .

@TheK6 you can join games with me or the other participants in this thread, we're all constant players ;)

Ariallito's point is also worth considering (to an extent: I think there's no denying that lantids and gleens really are in need of some help).

You folks just need to figure out how to properly dolphin :P

    • RE: What to do about players who join and dont play?

      Ehi,

VARITHIO is a friend of mine, and since you named him, I'd like to vouch for him, because he unfortunately can't speak English well and asked me to do so. I don't want to start a flame where I am just the messenger, of course :) , but when one makes names, I think replies are in order.

This message sounds really curious to me, because VARITHIO complains about people dropping all the time - listening to his vocals where he swears at people abandoning games is tons of fun :joy: (unfortunately these gems are Italian-only, that's a shame).

Talking about facts, everyone can check his record of games, he has dozens of (well) completed games here on Gaiaform and in general he is a very active player. You can also find a single game where he dropped after choosing factions - the one where you were involved. That is something which unfortunately can happen, we all have lives which can prevent us from playing as much as we wanted. Oh, and another one, where the players participating were all friends in real life (they're part of our common group) and agreed to drop the game to open another one, to add one more player who had been left out. That's it.

Again, I don't want to start a debate around a person who can't technically vouch on his own, and I agree that the issue exists in general (I already reported it), but I think that this time you just called out the wrong one. I know it's frustrating to have one game where one or more players drop, it happened to me SEVERAL times, but I never called names because I couldn't know why this happened (who am I fooling? They obviously were terrified by my skills    ).

      See you around, have fun!

@Babbuc49 said in Improvement to the auction ?:

There are many ways you can tweak the auction system but the game will never be objectively better than with the good ol' rotation, just longer. It may meet your tastes better, I won't argue with that, but most of the time you'll just be playing a small gambling game before the actual game, and that's perfectly fine, I'm just not intersted in it anymore. Just mind that no auction system will improve your chances of winning a game.

      THIS, a bazillion times THIS.

Out of my experience and mistakes, I now realize I could plan carefully for an auction in order to maximize my chances of winning, even with, let's say, Lantids if the mains are "planet types" and "Gaia".

I just don't want to do that (and it's fine if other people want to do auctions, ofc).
      I'm definitely with Babbuc here.

@testrun said in Improvement to the auction ?:

What do you think of the idea of the last player setting values, instead of/in addition to rotating sectors? It would cut out the multiple days of "bid+1"ing you mention...

Well, it could work; but, again, it's in the hands of a single player, so... why don't we just play GP as it was intended, maybe adding just the sector rotation? :D

Quick replies: for Lantids, I think ALL of them, and no, it wouldn't make them op. Regarding Gleens, sorry, but "Gleens can already be quite strong" is just light years from my experience. Anyway, since nothing of this will take place, we're talking about nothing ;).

    • RE: Improvement to the auction ?

Ok but I frankly can't see how

      • give Lantids a normal power system
      • make Gleens use qics, ffs
      • remove the dang extra ore from Itars

      could unbalance tha factions, honestly.

Regarding rules confusion: there already are two rulesets for GP, with or without auctions.

Personally, I think I'm done with auctions; I have enough of people throwing in Lantids just to have other players pick them out of boredom after three days of bidding. It's just a dumb way of spending my time.
If you have fun in clicking "bid x+1 for Ambas" for three days then, great, go for it; I don't, and won't.

This means I won't cross a lot of other players who, instead, play exclusively with auctions; and that, in my view, is a shame.
