      GROUPS

      for transparency:

We have 5 players from the first season of this tournament. Including the 4 more experienced. Including 3 champions - putting them in one group would be unfair. Therefore, I decided that everyone would be in a separate groups. As familiar with the tournament system - they will be able to help you explain how to start the second round, etc.

Small rule of our tournament - the last player can decide:

Gaianator was the last to join, I don't know him, we never played together, probably. So I am asking him to complete the line-up of all groups. So Gaianator - please, can you divide players into groups below? (if you do not do it - tomorrow I will ask the next person: Mecenas). Please put each player into the groups. How will you do this? It's your decision/lottery.

List of groups and players below:

      Players

Gaianator, Mecenas, effaraitsch, rescod, Molfo, carioca, Snitz, DukeR, El Temblo, sharath, Markus, vizkris

What next ? I will send a link to the games (using private messages here, using Discord, and by e-mail). After the first game - one of the players in the group will put a new link to the second game (using game-chat).

    • RE: We definitely need shorter game times!

If it possible I suggest update timers, or create a new option - 'challenge: express game'

      with possible settings:

      • Time per player per all game: 60 or 90 minutes

      • Additional time per move: 0 (zero) minutes

      • Game loss: after (5 or 15 or 20) minutes of inactivity

But - to be honest - how many players will be using these special timers? There is a risk that not many, and there will be a lot of abandoned games.

    • RE: The I Eastern Hemisphere Gaia Tournament [unofficial]

As the platform only offers a random order of players - we need auctions to manage the correct order of players.

      How does it work?
      EXAMPLE:

In the first group, they met and chose the factions they would like to play:

      1. GAME 1
        Tom - player 1 - Gleens (bid 0)
        Daniel - player 2 - Firaks (bid 0)
        Slawek - player 3 - Lantids (bid 0)
        Robert - player 4 - Ivits (bid 0)

from now on, each of the four games have the same faction order!
      P 1 - Gleens
      P 2 - Firaks
      P 3 - Lantids
      P 4 - Ivits

They finished the first game after a few days with the results:
Tom 100 vp, Daniel 120, Slawek 140, Robert 160 vp

Next one of them has to start a new game using the same settings (timer, unlisted, etc...) entering the same seed (!!!), send it to the other three players (we need to exchange e-mails! or communications here using private messages). All four should join to the second match (of the four games)

      random players order, for example:
      2. GAME 2
Tom (he is again first) - player 1
      Robert - player 2
Slawek (he is again third)  - player 3
      Daniel - player 4

      In this case:
player 1 - Gleens (Tom MUST choose Gleens again)
player 2 - Firaks (Robert MUST choose Firaks)
player 3 - Lantids (Slawek MUST choose Lantids again)
player 4 - Ivits (Daniel MUST choose Ivits)

Of course Tom and Slawek can't play one more time using the same factions. They must choose - using bidding "0" - another faction!

      Finally GAME 2 is,
      for example:
      P 1 - Gleens - Daniel (bid 0)
      P 2 - Firaks - Slawek (bid 0)
      P 3 - Lantids - Robert (bid 0)
      P 4 - Ivits - Tom (bid 0)

      VP of the second game:
      Tom 200, Daniel 120, Slawek 140, Robert 120 vp

      Total points after 2 matches:
      Tom - 300 vp (100 + 200)
      Daniel - 240 vp (120 + 120)
      Slawek - 280 vp (140 + 140)
      Robert - 280 vp (160 + 120)

Who wins in the group? The two players with the highest total points after four games.

They go to the final (2 best players from each group). In the second phase, the points count from zero again. Whoever scores the most points in the final wins the tournament.

Congratulations & big thanks to all players of the Group A for 4 difficult games!

89 points between Bardopondo (the winner!) and Mecenas is not an enormous distance after four games, which shows how hard the fight was! There is only a 4 vp difference between PodonokMax (who won the most times in the group!) and Wy. This shows that our Tournament system is not ideal, but rules are rules.

Bardopondo and Wy are going to the final four games. Congratulations! Start in March.

I hope everyone will want to continue participating, but it's not mandatory. It's just a game! :)

    • The II Eastern Hemisphere Gaia Tournament

      Hello!
It's time for: The II Eastern Hemisphere Gaia Tournament

      IITorunament Eurafrasia.jpg

'I won't win this game ?! Hold my beer, bro!' Unknown player

Last time it took around six month, and we called it 'Euro Cup' because all the players lived in Europe. Maybe now it will be the EurAsia Cup?

If you really understand the Gaia Project and live somewhere between Japan and Portugal - you can join.

But... please notice: our international Tournament will last from 6 to even 12 months!!! Are you ready for something like this?

We don't need bidding, rotation or any of the alternative variants. Because the rules are extremely fair:

      • Each player MUST play once using a faction chosen by himself and by other players: 4 games on the same map, with the same seed, using the same factions. This system means that no one is the player who got the only "strongest" or "weakest" faction.

      • We use 'auction' just as a tool. Each game each player has no negative points (bid 0). But the 'auction' must remain in order for each of the 4 games to copy the order of the factions selected in the first game.

      • you won 2 games but didn't come out of the group? It is possible. This tournament is all about the sum of the points from 4 games

      • how it works exactly? You have to check the rules of previous Tournament! Link: https://forum.boardgamers.space/topic/157/the-i-eastern-hemisphere-gaia-tournament-unofficial

Apart from the desire to have fun we need discipline. If you want to play with us and if you meet the following criteria:

      • your 'karma' is over 70 and you don't give up games!

      • you don't ignore the chat and communication

      • you prefer only fast turn-based games (minimum 5-10 moves per day) in the hours:
        7:00 - 15:00 o'clock (Lisbon - London time zone)
        8:00 - 16:00 (Madrit - Warsaw)
        9:00 - 17:00 (Kiev)
        10:00 - 18:00 (Moscow)
or you're from Korea and play in the evenings: 5:00 p.m. - 2:00 a.m. (Seoul)

You are welcome to join fast turn-based games, each should take max two or three weeks, not more, I hope!
The timer will run during these hours (see above!)
Time per player per game: 3 days
Additional time per move: 2 hours
What does it mean? In practice each game between 7 and even 21 days.

START: 2021, when we complete crew of minimum 8, or 12, or maximum 16 players.

END: 2022, when the top 4 players from the qualifying groups complete the fourth game in the final group. With 16 starting players, this means a maximum of 12 games for 1 player (if it comes to the final)

      • From each qualifying group, the two players with the most points (total points from 4 games) advance to the semi-finals.

      • from 2 groups in the semi-final after four matches, analogically: the best 2 players move on, i.e. to the final group, in which they play 4 matches.

      • always a new group (4 games) counts points from zero.

      • we can also start as only 8 players. Then the maximum number of games is 8 (like in the First Tournament)

      FAQ

What if I submit my participation but for many weeks we will not complete 8 players to start?

8 players is the minimum and enough to run it.
12 is a good amount. 16 is the best amount and the maximum.

That's why I'm asking players to send me an e-mail. Then I can inform them about a possible start and ask if they are still willing. You don't want to provide an email? no problem. But in that case, check the forum here from time to time, keep in touch!

Can the timer be longer? for example: 1 day per move?

It's not a good idea. Each game should take a maximum of 2 or 3 weeks. If one game takes 4 or 5 weeks, then we have a serious problem.

What if I want to drop the tournament in progress?

If you think about it, you shouldn't join at all. We don't need dishonorable players.

However... It should be just fun, not a sad obligation!
If you really have to quit, then please - though finish the current game. After that someone will replace you as 'backup player'.

I'm divorcing my fourth wife and marrying the fifth, is it possible to pause a game for 1-2 days in an ongoing game?

Sure, just inform other players about your absence.

      Ok, guy, How to join?

Well. Write here, or send me email: ariallito@gmail.com
      Thank you for your attention!

      @bardopondo

Thank you for your opinion. We will do as you suggested. And we don't need 'auction' anymore, because BGS has fixed 'player order' option :)

      Explanation
the random order of your group F is:

      First game:

      1. vizkris
      2. Markus
      3. bardopondo
      4. carioca

So we're going to shift the order 1 to the right:

      Second game

      1. carioca
      2. vizkris
      3. Markus
      4. bardopondo

      Third game:

      1. bardopondo
      2. carioca
      3. vizkris
      4. Markus

      etc.

vizkris is 'Host of the table'. He will manage the correct order.

These 16 group games really deserve a summary. But by not directly participating in 12 of them - I can only risk unfair judgment.

In my group D, the weakest Lantid result and the worst Ambas result were also one of the hardest fights in this group! So it makes no sense to write that X vp is a low result. In the same way - for example: I know nothing about the actual value of the Lantids scores in group B, sometimes one decision (your or not) can change everything...

If anyone wants to add something or sum up these difficult matches - please.

I can and would like only to write: thank you ALL 16 players for your games!
