Hi there I have a question about FED forming - not sure if what I want to do is legal and a bug with the system, or if I'm trying to break the rules without knowing it. Basically I want to make an inefficient fed (for end game scoring reasons) that connects a bunch of planets that require me to navigate around a more centrally located planet, which is adjacent to one of my Gaia formers that is not yet built (planet is green - ready to build). If the Gaia former does not count as a structure, then the shortest path to make the FED would run adjacent to the Gaia former, but the program tells me this is not valid.Screen Shot 2021-05-26 at 5.30.04 PM.png see image to understand what I am attempting. I am curious if this is a legal move, or if I am missing something. thanks!

I think I answered my question by reading rules on the forum - my fed isn't legal. sadly (it will cost me the game - it was a tight one!)

What exactly made your federation illegal? Looking at the screenshot, I'm not able to identity the issue.

@Guillaume by using the mine next to the gaiaformer, you can connect the planets of the federation by using less satellites. So you have to use this route.

Then, because the mine was added, the mine at the bottom becomes superflous and needs to go.

It's a confusing rule, but it's how it is (multiple questions on that rule & official ruling issued)

Thanks for the answer. I guess it's actually clear from the rule #2 of the official FAQ, I had just missed the that when it says the new satellites cannot be adjacent to your other satellites and planets, it specifically refers to the ones in existing federations, it's a big distinction as opposed to being next to any planet that's not meant to be part of the newly formed federation, which is how I had assumed it was meant to be. When reading it again now, it does make sense that the federation on the screenshot isn't legal.
