Game sidebar & other changes
-
There's another big update. This time we're going to wait a few days, but you can test it here: https://testdev.gaiaform.io/
Like usual a lot of under the hood changes. But we also:
- Improved the "New Game" page (and plan for the inclusion of other games)
- Improved the "Join game" page
- The game page is updated instantly when other players move
- Added a sidebar!! You can now update game preferences in the side bar, and the notes
- Improved a little the UI of Gaia Project: player boards are now two in a row, and the turn order is much nicer
We also made the website much more adaptable to new games, we'll see what happens with that in the future.
Don't hesitate to report any problems with the update!

I'm liking a lot the new layout, just a small thing that I noticed is that turn order icons are much bigger than needed, maybe they could be scaled down and map and technology could be scaled up a bit, I don't know if others feel the same... anyway thanks for all the work you're putting into this!

I increased the map size and made the turn order a bit smaller (might need a refresh). Thanks for the feedback :)

I really enjoyed the changes. Especially that the turn order is shown before the players board.

New interface looks good!
Only thing, I think I'd prefer to have my notes always open in front of me, as it was before, instead of having to access the sidebar... but I don't know if the new (bigger) interface is compatible with the old notes box.

Are you playing on mobile or desktop?
On desktop you're supposed to be able to always keep the sidebar open if you want, but on mobile I understand that things could be improved.

I found a really small bug... when opening the chat it still shows an X on the upper right to close the window that doesn't work, just a small aesthetic thing more than an issue i guess, I really like the bigger Map and Tracks!
-
@Babbuc49 Wasn't a small bug... You couldn't type in the chat anymore!
-
oh that i didn't notice cause I only opened it to read :pig:

This is not a bug, but I guess something with the layout. I mostly play on my pc, but today I opened it on my cellphone and I saw that the new sidebar button is placed on top of the speech bubble button (for chatting and where the game says which turn you are on).

Hey, I just tested on my phone and you're right. But I just updated my browser (Brave) and it fixed it. If you have chrome and update it, it should fix it too.

Like the new look on desktop. There are still lots of display issues on mobile- player boards sometimes don’t display completely and top banner is partially hidden, etc.
-
I'm experiencing a problem with the "notes" box. Sometimes (on a totally random basis, as far as I can see) when I move from one of my active games to the other without closing the sidebar, the notes from game A stay where they are, so that all the notes I had previously taken for game B are "overwritten", and consequently lost :-/
I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or this is an actual bug -
@Molfo Thank you for the report. I made several small changes which should prevent that kind of behavior from happening again.
