    • RE: Coordinates system

If that's the case well then i'm surprised. Even the first two characters would usually suffice in identifying where something was built... And again i like that it's so intuitive. 7A would mean Sector 7 outer ring.... that's easy.

@Robert-Shepherd I like that system. Seems very intuitive. The fact that you can identify immidiately which sector something was built on is useful.

    • RE: suggestion: show current player on game overview page

      I second this. To elaborate:

      • Highlight the current players turn. I often find myself cycling through the games just to get an overview of when it's gonna be my turn. For this to work the order of the factions listed on the overview would also have to match the current turn order in that game.

      • Also another suggestion: If it is your turn, show the timer on the overview so you know which games needs your immediate attention. I feel this is really nice when you have alot of games going. I accidentally dropped out of mine cause i didn't realize i was running low on time (exclusively my own fault, i know), but this would assist the players to prioritize.

Tighter map for 3 player games
I don't play with it alot but i know alot of people prefer to take out sectors 9 and 10 in a 3 player game to make it tighter.

      7vp 3pt

This option is actually already included in the PBF google sheet on BGG, and seems widely accepted as the most common variant to make the 8vp 2pt fed token be more viable.

      Balanced faction variant

Based on PROJ's post here: Balanced faction variant. This variant aims to balance the faction such as nerfing the stronger faction (Itars, Ambas) and boosting the weaker factions (Lantids, gleens, firaks and so on). Is continuously updated and is the prefered way of playing for alot of folks on my GP discord server.

This one i'd love to see implemented.

    • Variants

There are a couple of variants out there which serve to balance GP. It could be nice to have an option included in this server to play with some of those variants. Some of them are pretty straightforward to implement while some would require some work. To give an overview to the site owner which variants are most requested i thought i'd make a thread where i write down all the most common variants i know, and then each can upvote based on how requested it is.

    • RE: what do you think of 8vp 2t fed bonus?

It is generally considered a very weak federation token.
      A common variant is 7vp 3pt.

    • RE: How to find real-time plays

@baldoo You're quite right about this. I think most players in here have had a bad experience in trying to host a live game (including myself). It's hard to find people who are commited to a live game when the platform does not fully support it yet. Some changes would need to be made. Probably the most important one is not auto-starting the game when a room is full. Instead make every player check a checkbox once the room is full to indiciate everyone is ready for a live game. Even then, it's still difficult due to the simple fact there are not that many players on here yet. So even finding the players would take some time in itself.

The most efficient way right now is to organize it directly with the players. There is place for it in the forums, but it's not very active or even a good platform for arranging live games. As @Babbuc49 mentioned discord is more suited. If anyone wants to join here the link to my discord server:

    • Can't load any games right now

Not sure if anyone else is having this problem. I can't load any games. Neither my own or anyone else's. Is there a big update going on or something?

    • Rotating sectors white hexagon distracting

The white hexagon that pops up to indicate that you can rotate the sectors by clicking on them is making it needlessly more difficult to get an overview of the map setup (especially for white).

Perhaps I'm getting old but my eyes are struggling cause of having to ignore this added color. I'd suggest indicating in another way that the sectors can be rotated without altering the actual layout/design of each sector. Maybe it would suffice to just inform the players in text.

    • Warning when you're about to pass stupidly

As the title says. Are there any plans to prompt the player when they are about to pass 'stupidly'?

It happens IRL and it also happens in here. Usually we allow the player to correct their obivously stupid mistake but since there is no way to manually turn back the time, i suggest there be implemented some way that warns the players when they are about to pass 'stupidly'. It would apply for the following scenarios:

      • Not having used your special action from tech tiles as well as special faction abilities (ofc this can situationally be beneficial).
      • Bal'taks not having converted their GF to QIC

In no way did this post get triggered by me making such a mistake...... :face_with_rolling_eyes: Of course one could argue it's up to the player and it's the players fault for not spending enough time to check everything. However when the format of this site supports having multiple games running at once, it would be a nice addition to assists the players in this way.

    • RE: Week 1 Observations/Suggestions

To be entirely fair there are actually situations of which you'd want more buildings in your federation than necessary which is the 'Buildings in federations' final scoring... But given how situational that is i'd say rather assist players in making an optimal federation instead.

Personally i don't see any issues with the satelites FS. For me it only offers another level of planning since you want your last federation to be as 'long' as possible, which forces you to focus more on getting additional power tokens and even expanding further away. These just adds to the variability of the game since you now need to approach the game another way to score optimally.

    • RE: Week 1 Observations/Suggestions

@Babbuc49 The main difference is that @Robert-Shepherd is skipping the 3rd and most 'complicated' step, which is reforming the federation if it can be done with one fewer building. With Roberts variant it is possible to spend more satelites to form a federation than should be possible according to official rules. Now i don't know why one would ever do that, except if to put down more satelites for the satelites FS. However, if you scrap that satelite FS tile it makes even less sense because what would the purpose now be of forming a federation that costs more satelties and even more power values of buildings (since that is now possible when skipping 3rd step).

Perhaps another way to look at it, is that the 3rd step exists to assist players in making the most optimal federation.

    • RE: How to find real-time plays

Yeah with all the automation even 2-3 hours for a 4 player game might even be possible... I'd really love to be able to get in a game of gaia in that amount of time!

Seeing as many people who play live games here organize it privately, would there be any interest (both from players and owners of this site) in outsourcing the communication of looking for live games somewhere else for everyone on the server to join (such as a Discord server)? I'm aware there is the forums on this server but it seems like it is not the most viable approach since a) people don't check forums often enough and b) there is no notification/pinging.

    • How to find real-time plays

      Hey everyone.

Just joined this server and it seems great! The interface is amazing and it would definetly be my prefered way of playing GP online.

Though my small caveat is with finding players for real-time games as i feel the 'sessions' or turn-based games take too much of my time and focus. I'm looking for games that can be played in one sitting of the usual playing time 3-4 hours (might even be quicker with all the automation in here), however there does not seem to be a way of 'pinging' or notifying people that you're looking for a real-time session.

Are there any plans down the line of assisting players to find real-time games? How do people approach finding real-time games in here? Furthermore, are people on this server even looking for real-time games, or are most happy with the turn based games which seems to be the case with the majority of games in here.

    • RE: Color wheel and costs missing in the game page

Came to the forums to address this issue specifically. Colow wheel when choosing factions is so useful. Only just noticed this minor inconvenience in the game so far as i have only gotten as far as placing initial mines.. Otherwise seems like a great implementation of the game.
